Part of a long running series which has become a must read for many。 Eve Dallas is a strong cop who is on a deadline to save a life。 Murder has already being committed with the body found in the park with a sign “Bad Mommy”。 Good investigative police work shines through this story。 Eve and her cops take it personally and will follow every twist and turn which will bring the past to life。 These are characters that spring from the page and are good for many more outings。I was given an arc of this Part of a long running series which has become a must read for many。 Eve Dallas is a strong cop who is on a deadline to save a life。 Murder has already being committed with the body found in the park with a sign “Bad Mommy”。 Good investigative police work shines through this story。 Eve and her cops take it personally and will follow every twist and turn which will bring the past to life。 These are characters that spring from the page and are good for many more outings。I was given an arc of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Meet up with familiar characters as they work against time to solve the abduction and murders of 3 young women。 The why, who and where is a race seemingly impossible to solve but Tiny clues add up to give a picture of the perpetrator。Jd Robb does not disappoint and the characters develop along with the series。 Firm fan that looks out for her books in both writing names

Rosemary

Not my favourite, not enough oomph。

I just finished an advanced copy of this book。Eve Dallas and her team are on the hunt for a killer。 They have to find him before he kills again。They search everything they can to expose the killer and why he kills。This is a bit of a pyshocologial mystery。 I love these books。Eve, Roark, Peabody, McNab, Feeny, and her team work hard to find the killer。Eve stand for those who can't stand for themselves。 I just finished an advanced copy of this book。Eve Dallas and her team are on the hunt for a killer。 They have to find him before he kills again。They search everything they can to expose the killer and why he kills。This is a bit of a pyshocologial mystery。 I love these books。Eve, Roark, Peabody, McNab, Feeny, and her team work hard to find the killer。Eve stand for those who can't stand for themselves。 。。。more

JD Robb never disappoints。 Abandoned in Death gives us a look into a man struggling with his upbringing, specifically his mother。 He ends up obsessed and wants to make her pay。。。 over and over again。 Really, what do you say about a Robb book? One woman dead。 Two missing。 Time is a factor if either of them will be found alive。 Detective Eve Dallas is facing a very difficult case。 As always, her attention is more than riveted to solving this latest murder。 The fact that the woman's body was found at a playground near her dear friends Mavis and Leonardo's neighborhood presses Eve even more。 There is one clue that is rather curious - a note that says "Bad Mommy。"What could that pertain to? Well, between Eve and her team, as well as resident Dr。 Mira, Eve begins to unravel events that took place decades previously。 Actually。 as the book opens there is a very sad case of a mother who was prepared to give up on life and this including taking her young son with her。 What happened in that case, to the woman, to the child, and what does that have to do with the current case?I have read thousands of books in my lifetime and for the life of me I could not come close to finding a similar plot line。 A plot that took some time to unfold for Eve。 Her skills of deduction, along with occasional help from her billionaire hunk husband Roarke, proved invaluable when it came to desperately try to find the other two missing women。This 54th book in J。 D。 Robb's amazing series was a one-sitting read from start to finish。 Impossible to put down, especially when the feeling of working alongside Eve as she connected the past with the present events。 The sense of urgency never once let up。 I have read each and every book in this series - including the novellas - and I must say that Robb never ceases to surprise me。 To engage me。 To keep my attention from beginning to end。 It is with eager anticipation that I look forward to reading Desperation in Death, set for release in September, 2022。Many thanks to St。 Martin's Press and to NetGalley for this ARC for review。 This is my honest opinion。 。。。more

I received an ARC of this from Edelweiss。 It was another good read, a good addition to the Eve Dallas series although it took a bit to get into the case。 I had a few good chuckles during some Eve/Peabody scenes。

Another excellent book by Nora Roberts/JD Robb。 She always has the best descriptions of bad people; "Malignant narcissist", the perfect description of the person behind one of the deaths in this intriguing book。 Loved it! If you had told me I'd be 54 books deep into a series and still enjoy every one, I would have probably called you a liar。 But then here comes JD Robb to prove me wrong。 This time, a woman has been left dead in a local park with a sign that says "Bad Mommy。" Dallas and Peabody catch the case and soon realize that the culprit has more women captive and it's a race against the click to find him before he gets rid of the rest or acquires more。 If you had told me I'd be 54 books deep into a series and still enjoy every one, I would have probably called you a liar。 But then here comes JD Robb to prove me wrong。 This time, a woman has been left dead in a local park with a sign that says "Bad Mommy。" Dallas and Peabody catch the case and soon realize that the culprit has more women captive and it's a race against the click to find him before he gets rid of the rest or acquires more。 。。。more

Another engaging installment。 This book was told from a slightly different perspective and included flashbacks from various aspects of a character's life。 After 54 books, J。D。 Robb can still surprise and entertain。 Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC。 Another engaging installment。 This book was told from a slightly different perspective and included flashbacks from various aspects of a character's life。 After 54 books, J。D。 Robb can still surprise and entertain。 Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC。 。。。more

Another winning entry for this long running series。 I liked that it had just enough overlap between Dallas' personal and professional worlds and I didn't see the twist coming at all。 I also felt that the victim was very well drawn in a way that mysteries don't always manage。 Another winning entry for this long running series。 I liked that it had just enough overlap between Dallas' personal and professional worlds and I didn't see the twist coming at all。 I also felt that the victim was very well drawn in a way that mysteries don't always manage。 。。。more

No。 54 in a series。 That is quite a number of books written by one author。 I enjoy reading them (especially when I can get an ARC and read it months ahead of the release date!)。 They for the most part have a nice balance between the crime procedural and the characterization。 As with any long-running series, there are duds。 This for the most part is one of the good ones。One of the things that just makes me look askew at the book is when the author has no continuity book to book。 A consult with Dr No。 54 in a series。 That is quite a number of books written by one author。 I enjoy reading them (especially when I can get an ARC and read it months ahead of the release date!)。 They for the most part have a nice balance between the crime procedural and the characterization。 As with any long-running series, there are duds。 This for the most part is one of the good ones。One of the things that just makes me look askew at the book is when the author has no continuity book to book。 A consult with Dr Mira, here, mentions the Oedipus complex and Dallas doesn't know this? You would think that as a homicide detective she would remember more about abnormal and criminal psychology。 (I really think that this complex was mentioned in an earlier volume。) Even common phrases are grist for the "ignorance mill" of Dallas' mind。 Not knowing "a box of rocks" but she knows the phrase tabula rasa? Yeah。。。。。There is a nice reference to 20th century history 42 being both with Jackie Robinson's number and the answer to the question of the universe。 Another thing that bothered me was the cause of the killer's psychotic break (view spoiler)[ the death of his bio mom was prefaced by her finding him as the abandoned child and giving him money。 Wouldn't her other children have found that transfer in her estate records? It was mentioned that it was hidden by a false firm of lawyers but still would not her inheritors question this large unusual transaction? (hide spoiler)]Overall not a bad addition to the series。 Abandoned in Death had enough red herrings that I thought I knew who the killer was a couple of times, but was wrong。 It was especially nice to see some of the continuation of supporting characters storylines。 Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC。 。。。more

There is a serial killer working that remakes his victims into what they label as a bad mommy。 The clothes and makeup are dated so Eve and her team work with Mira to find someone that have the ultimate in mother issues。 There is a lot of flashbacks in the book to tell the story of the original bad mommy as the story progresses that flesh out what drove the killer to do it。 A tight story as usual from JD Robb and I can’t wait for the next one。 Digital review copy provided by the publisher through There is a serial killer working that remakes his victims into what they label as a bad mommy。 The clothes and makeup are dated so Eve and her team work with Mira to find someone that have the ultimate in mother issues。 There is a lot of flashbacks in the book to tell the story of the original bad mommy as the story progresses that flesh out what drove the killer to do it。 A tight story as usual from JD Robb and I can’t wait for the next one。 Digital review copy provided by the publisher through Edelweiss 。。。more

Received an ARC courtesy of the publisher via Edelweiss。This one was written slightly differently than other books in the series。 We got flashback scenes from the past that help illustrate the mystery in the present。Would have liked a little more Eve and Roarke, but the stories still engage me even after over 50 books。
